Happy Anniversary

I truly didn't mean to disappear for a week, but things have been a bit crazy around our house. Our son is off for spring break -- as is pretty much all of Texas, it seems. Our niece is attending college in Dallas so drove down along with a few friends and we're playing host parents... It's been so much fun having them around! It's definitely bringing back some fun memories (which makes me feel young and carefree) but also making me realize I have definitely crossed over to the Mom side :) Yep, I'm old and I'm OK with that!! And then there's the fact that since we pretty much live in Spring Break party central (near South Padre) every place is busy, so even my mundane tasks like grocery shopping are taking much longer. Anyway, enough with the stories and on to a card!

I made this fun monochromatic card for this month's smART-word challenge (there's still a week left for you to play along!) The images are all from the Feathered Friends sheet. I really like the solid circle and oval that come with that set, and here I decided to ink it up with a couple different brilliance inks to set the tone for the card. I overstamped the leaf outline, added a sentiment, matted, and added a bit o' bling to balance out the design. I love these colors for anniversary cards - soft and romantic but not overly feminine.

Happy Anniversary

I squeezed in another card making session; it hit me that July is just days away, which means that parent's anniversary snuck up on me yet again :)

I made the card based on Mercy's Tuesday sketch, and I pulled the colors from the gorgeous flower (which I received as a RAK quite some time ago, but just recently rediscovered). I paired it up with some BasicGrey Sultry paper, and the sentiment is SU (Hugs & Wishes). I did make one happy little discovery today: I was trying to figure out what to do for the center of the flower when I noticed a scrap of paper that had been embossed with the CB bloom dots folder. Hmmm... wonder if I have a punch that would fit one of those circles? Yep, the 3/4 circle punch is a perfect fit! I punched it, accented the embossing with some metallic rub, then attached it to the flower with a mini brad. I love this look, and I definitely want to play around with it more.

Sharing some love

I needed to make an anniversary card for some friends, and when I saw Mercy's sketch, I knew I'd found my starting point. This went together quickly using some retired SU designer papers, and the Love stamp (Brenda Walton - Inkadinkado). It needed something more, though, so I die cut a heart from some heavy plastic packaging I'd saved, then went around the edges with palette ink. I embellished it with a prima and a bit of ribbon, and then used a brad to hold it all down (thereby taking care of the interminable question of how to attach a clear element). Beauteous!

Lovebirds

I'm still trying working my way through the ChatterBox scrap kit, plus when I was cleaning off my workspace I found this one, lonely shipping tag. So yesterday's "Ways to Use it" challenge of a tag was perfect. I stamped the cute little lovebirds (Inkadinkado), clear embossed, spritzed the tag with denim blue glimmer mist, and scalloped the edge with decorative scissors. It still needed more, though, so I added the word (Stampington), a flower, and some ribbon. I layered it onto a burgundy card base, accented with some paper and lace. I'm really happy with the final result, and it will be perfect to give some friends who are celebrating their anniversary soon.

Getting Scrappy

After yesterday's card, I had a lot of scraps on my workspace. Since everything was from the same Chatterbox package, pulling another project together was super simple. These lightweight papers are double sided, and inks don't seem to sink in too badly (the green floral panel across the bottom had a big burgundy butterfly stamped on the back, and the sentiment panel reverses to a big ol' stripe). I left more white space, added some photo corners (stickers from the same package) and this time tied the ribbon on rather than adhering it. I like this card soooo much better!

The sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps and actually says "Happy Anniversary" underneath, but I think it works nicely as a birthday sentiment, too.

Scrappy Anniversary Card

This card is all about beautifully patterned papers. These are all from a K&Co pad (Classic K) filled with vintage prints. I selected these three, then added the sentiment (Verses) with Jumbo Java versamagic ink. I love the saying - they have some great ones for anniversaries. The final touch was two primas, secured with a sparkling brad.

Quick but quite lovely!!

Needed a simple card for some friends of ours. Doesn't get much easier than this! I stamped a large background image along the edge, then embellished with a bit of ribbon and added a sentiment. Gotta love those quick and cute cards!

Heartfelt Thanks - Anniversary Card

Heartfelt Thanks is one of my favorite sets - those watercolor type flowers are just gorgeous, aren't they? I needed to make an anniversary card, so this is what I came up with. Very simple color scheme - white, saffron, and gold. Love the elegance it conveys! I stamped the flowers onto a piece of white scrap, then added some narrow white organdy and gold cord. I layered that onto saffron, which I also edged with a gold paint pen. I then attached the flower panel to the card base, which I stamped with Paisley. For the final touch, I stamped this verse from Elegant Inspirations and embossed it with gold detail EP. I must admit, I'm quite happy with the results!
