Happy Spring!

As I was emptying the memory stick this weekend, I came across a few images that I had yet to share... and this seemed like a good springtime card :)

I pieced together some scraps of pale cardstock (just glued them down to some lightweight copy paper), then stamped the silhouette repeatedly to create the sense of movement. Isn't that a great image?! I was thinking about how kids can make virtually any situation fun, which is why I paired it up with this sentiment (also from smARTworks). It really is all about attitude!

Halloween Treats

Our family doesn't really do much for Halloween - we focus more on the fall/harvest aspect (plus that way all the decor carries over into Thanksgiving!). We do take the kids out trick-or-treating in our neighborhood; this year we have a knight in shining armor and a very elegant princess!

Anyway, our son's school is having a Halloween parade (all the kids march around the school) and then a little party this afternoon, and I wanted to make something for him to share with his classmates. I headed to Michael's and the Dollar store, and then made up these little goodie bags with a pencil, stickers, kazoo, balloon, and some candy. I had to incorporate some stamping in there somewhere, so I made little tags (pumpkin stamp from Target $1 bin, enjoy from Hero Arts) that I just stapled on.

$7 in supplies + 1 hour of stamping/assembly time = 24 Bags o' fun!

Simple Kid Birthday

I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted! Having a kid in school has definitely meant some adjustments for our family; I think we're pretty much in the groove now, and hopefully that will mean more stamping time for me soon :)

We have a party to attend this afternoon, so I made this quick card for the birthday boy. The only stamping is the sentiment (Clear Dollar Stamps) - everything else is just punched, cut, or embossed. I accented the 4 with some chalk that has just a bit of shimmer to it, so it's cool without being over-the-top.

Tea & Cookies

Yes, it's time for another shindig with my fellow smART cookies! Today's challenge was provided by Heidi, and we were to create something based on the colors in this photo (from Pottery Barn). I picked out a few colors, jotted down some notes, and dove into the stamp pile!



This first card is quite small - only 3x5 but I love how it really showcases the verse (Deut 6:5). I matted it with black, and ended up accidentally punching the entire thing with my corner rounder (loooong story) - funny thing is that I actually liked how it looked so I went ahead and did the other 3 :) I stamped the flower (Sunflowers) onto cranberry cardstock, and trimmed it down to a nice accent piece. I spritzed the card base with glimmer mist just to add some interest, then just glued everything down. Very simple!

I also needed to make a card for a little birthday party we attended this morning - the kids' friend is turning 4, and I happen to know he really likes bright colors so I decided to go ahead and make his card using orange and green - he's also really into bugs right now. I started by stamping "Happy Birthday" (Cake Time) onto a piece of orange cardstock, then I placed a 4 (Heidi Swapp mask) over it and misted it down with 2 colors of glimmer mist. Very cool effect! After it had dried, I trimmed it down to a tag shape then stapled on just a bit of rick rack. I stamped the bee (Winging It) onto some BasicGrey paper (I'm pretty sure it was from the Cupcake pad), and then trimmed another scrap of orange cardstock with some decorative edge scissors just to add another punch of color. I stamped the sentiment on the card base, and it was done! Definitely not your stereotypical boy card, but he really liked it.

Simple Thank You

Just wanted to share the simple TY notes I made for our son's 5th birthday. We had a bit of a jungle theme going on, plus we've always called him our "little monkey," so this just seemed appropriate. The monkey and vine images are from Paper Salon, and the thank you is from Impression Obsession. And yes, there is glimmer mist on that mustard layer - I just had to glitz 'em up somehow! :)

Cards for my kiddos

Our kids have definitely inherited my love of all things crafty, and when our son realized that I was going to be gone all day Saturday (stamping!!) he asked if I could make him a special card - and well, little sister was quick to make the same request. How on earth could I say no to those pleading brown eyes?! This one is my daughter's, and she was soooo excited to have her own "diamond flower." :) BasicGrey paper, and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.


Our son is really into all things space-related these days, so I knew he'd love this rocket card. No fancy layers or anything (although the flames are accented with glitter) - the camera flash really picked up on the waxy prismacolor pencils, so let me assure you that the main compartment is plain old red (not the funky effect seen here). I'd take another pic, but the card is already pretty rumpled from a certain enthusiastic 5 yr old! (Stamps from Skipping Stones designs)
