Colorful Tea Party

The next smARTworks' Tea Party is Wednesday, June 3, and it's my turn to play hostess! After much debate, I decided not to do a sketch or inspiration piece, but instead limit everyone: Create a card without using white. No cardstock, embellishments, embossing, etc. OK, so hints of white in patterned paper are acceptable ;) So dip into your multi-colored stash and get creative... we'd love to have you play along using whatever stamps you'd like. Hope to see you on Wednesday!

Tea Party

Yep, it's Tea Party time again! Unfortunately, my days have been filled with moving-related details rather than crafty time, so I wasn't able to create anything based on the inspiration piece that Susan provided, but I guarantee that the other cookies have some great stuff to share:

Tea Party Challenge

I'm late, but still wanted to share the challenge that Susan has "thrown down" for us this time around... It's an inspiration challenge, and she has shared this photo of an altered disposable cup.

So how does this inspire YOU? Colors, basic design, or altering a cup of your own? We'll be sharing our "inspired" creations on Wednesday 5/20, and we'd love to have you play along with us!

Feelin' Yellow

Tea Party time again! Peggy challenged us to go yellow, and I decided to make a Mother's Day card - which I'm happy to report is already in the mail ;)

This is definitely a "scrappy" card - not much stamping involved - so it came together very quickly. I stamped the sentiment (from Grow On) onto white cardstock, then hit the edges with thatched straw versamagic ink. I layered it with this pretty paper (Memory Box Sweetbay) and just added a bit more white cardstock before mounting it all onto a yellow card base. I added Prima flowers and a single button for some much-needed embellishment.

Check out what everyone else created: Susan (including Peggy's card), Giovana, Dina, Donelda & Donna!

Be joyful

The weather here is rainy and a bit chilly... perfect to sit inside with a cup of coffee and stamp! ;) I did just that yesterday afternoon, and was able to get a couple cards made.

This one uses the Buttoned Up set - such a cute little girl, and I love this accompanying verse. I used patterned paper from K&Co, added the color using dye ink pads, and added a couple tiny pearls for good measure. And although you can't see it in the photo, the girl is coated with Old Lace glimmer mist, so there's some rich sparkle in person.

See you tomorrow at the Tea Party!

Things really are better when they sparkle!

Our lives have been pretty crazy these past several months, but I decided to take some time today to make a fun card (plus I'm now ready for the next little girl birthday party!)

The Tinkerbell stamp is from EK Success, and the sentiment is from Verve - aren't they perfect together? I used BasicGrey Sultry paper, prismacolor pencils and Sakura gelly roll pen. I also want to point out that there are a few rounded corners in there - I bought a Fiskars squeeze punch earlier this year, and it works so much better for me than any other type of corner rounder (just something to keep in mind next time you're trolling the craft aisles, looking for something "coupon-worthy" :)

Hope your weekend "sparkles" with all sorts of good things!
